Have you ever transfixed at the full moon?
Rejoiced in the pure ecstasy of the Run?
Gotten lost in nuzzles & soft embraces?
Glowed with trickster magic & starlight?
Danced for the Butterfly Moon?
Held court over your beloved subjects?
Fallen into and out of a fairytale?
Swooned over a carrot?
Found magic everywhere you looked?
Do your ears hang low or stick up?
Felt the pain and ecstacy of shapeshifting?
Do your antlers sparkle with space dust?
Do you occasionally thirst for blood?
Is your bobtail cottony and white?
Do you share your body with a bunch of other rabbits?
Are you like us?

Inlérah: divine protector
in-LAY-ruh (she/her)shapeshifts from human woman to a white haremoon goddessmaintains order within the Warrenage changes from young woman to old woman
As a moon goddess, Inlérah takes a sort of distant guardian role in the warren. She is the Timekeeper and the Watcher, and she fronts occasionally to nudge things toward her notions of what’s best for the warren. Her name comes from Lapine for “Queen of the Moon”, though her own mythology does not come from the Watership Down rabbits’ beliefs. She considers other moon deities either versions of herself or siblings. Her demeanor can shift from gentle and motherly and full of old-knowledge from the heavens to stern and entitled and aloof to severe and demanding. Everything she does thrums with the confidence and grace of, well, a heavenly body who knows her divinity and place in the sky. Inlérah makes her home in Mare Desiderii. She mostly keeps to herself in the warren, unless the other rabbits get too chaotic and she needs to nudge them back into line. Then again, she always smiles when Breeze waves at her from the earth, and is never far away if any of the rest of the warren need her.

Wolpertinger: aggressive protector
a wolpertinger, typically takes the shape of a hare with antlers, wings, claws, and fangsagelesspronouns and gender are fluid, but she/her and appropriate respect are usually acceptable
Wolpertinger, a fae beast of the Dark Forest, is an aggressive protector of her warren. She enjoys her dark, mysterious, monstrous nature. She rarely fronts unless there is a physical threat, or there are monster/horror/spooky media or bloody meat being consumed. To outsiders and elil, she takes an intimidating and bloodthirsty stance. Wolpertinger has a lot of respect for General Woundwort’s resolve to fear no elil, but she disagrees with his leadership. To the rest of the warren, she’s a bit grouchy and aggressive, but gentle and protective of the little rabbits, sometimes even playful. She prefers to roost in her forest trees than in a burrow.

Breeze: trickster protector
jackalopeshe/herspace and magic and tricks
Breeze is a magical space jackalope, and sort of a big sister trickster in the warren. She loves imaginative playful games and that feeling of knowing something that you don’t. She’s good friends with El-ahrairah. And while she’s usually running or jumping or dancing for the simple delight of movement, Breeze will happily sit still for a good story. Not one to take much guff, she’s nonetheless gentle and loving and always up for making mischief with any of the rest of the warren’s rabbits. In short, a good big sister. She’s capable and friendly, but a little short on attention span. When she dreams, she leaps like she’s unbound by gravity, and just floats on the wind. She fronts pretty often, but rarely by herself. You could recognize her by the confident way she holds herself, her glinty smirkwink and sassy conversation, and her love for the heavens. If she can see the Moon, she’ll wave at her sister who lives there.

The Wild Hares: animal collective
they/them
a colony of hares that live with the other rabbits in the warren. They’ve never responded to or given any names, so the rest of the warren just calls them ‘the hares’. Their primary interests, it seems, are concerns of the id: fighting, fleeing, fucking, eating, and the like. They, are, however keenly sensitive to magic, and are drawn to it like watchers of a bonfire. The hares are not especially tame, which makes them a bit chaotic and one-tracked when they front. Inlérah, Breeze, and Wolpertinger all act as sorts of gate keepers and managers for the hares, mostly nudging them towards the internal meadows and fields adjacent to the warren’s burrow and forest. The hares exalt in the Run, the Chase, and the Moon, and can elude even the warren’s guardians, if they are determined to front. They are skittish, though, and they usually disappear as quickly and suddenly as they appear.
